Do you like white walls? Since I’m all about personalization, I’m always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to make my home feel like it’s my own space—not just some generic space that could belong to anyone. But it can be hard to find something that doesn’t feel overdone or tacky. That’s why I love wallpaper so much! It allows me to express my personality without going overboard or breaking the bank.
Wallpaper makes sense when you consider how important color is in creating an inviting space. In fact, studies show that color affects our moods and perceptions of a space—so if we’re going to spend time in those areas, we want them to feel good! When you opt for forest wallpaper or another graphic design wallpaper that aligns with your personal taste, it creates a sense of identity for your home and helps make it feel like yours alone.
But there are so many other ways to add a sense of personal touch to your walls. Here are 8 such ways:
Table of Contents
1. A Gallery Wall of Art and Photography:
If you’re looking for something that’s going to stand out in your home without being too overwhelming (or expensive), this is a great option. A gallery wall can be made up of any type of art—from paintings and photographs to framed pieces from magazines or old calendars. The key is finding pieces that complement each other, which will help make your gallery wall feel cohesive instead of random. If you’re short on wall space but want your gallery wall to look full and beautiful, hang them at different heights , so they fill up more space vertically than horizontally!
2. Wall Decals:
I’m not talking about those cheap dollar store stickers that peel off after a few months (although those can be fun too). I mean real, high-quality decals that last for years without peeling or losing their color. These come in all shapes and sizes, from simple words to detailed graphics. And they’re super easy to apply: Just peel them off the paper backing and stick them on the wall!
3. A Terrarium with Plants:
If you’re looking for something a little more green in your decorating scheme, consider adding some plants to your home! Terrariums are really trendy right now, but they’re also super simple and easy to care for (and inexpensive). They look great sitting on a shelf or tabletop as well as hung on a wall (you can even mount them directly on the wall if you want). They’re also perfect for those who don’t have much space since they take up very little room compared to other plants!
4. Tapestry:
I love tapestries because they’re easy to hang and don’t require any special tools or skills (although hanging them properly does take some practice). A tapestry can instantly add color, texture and personality to any room without being too overwhelming. Plus, if you want one but don’t know where to start, there are tons available on Etsy.
5. Picture Frame Collage:
The easiest way to add personality without going overboard is by creating a collage using photo frames in different shapes and sizes. You could even include vintage frames from flea markets or thrift shops if you wanted them to look more rustic and worn-in (which also makes them more affordable). Just make sure they’re clean before putting them up!
6. Framed Pictures:
Framed pictures are another great way to personalize your walls. It’s there in the name—frames! But what really makes them stand out is the fact that they can be so many different things. You can get traditional frames in all sorts of shapes and sizes, but you can also get more unconventional ones like wood, metal or even cardboard! Or if you’re feeling really adventurous, why not take a picture of something you love (like your dog) and frame that?
7. Mirrors:
Mirroring is an awesome way to add a bit more personality and dimension to any room in your home. You can go big or small with this one—go with a large mirror that takes up an entire wall or choose one with smaller frames that hang from your ceiling (or even from the wall). Mirrors make any room feel bigger so they’re great for small spaces, but they also give you more light during the day and help reflect light at night when they’re hanging above lamps or candles on your bedside tables. They’ll help give off more light in dimmer rooms and make them seem brighter overall.
8. Put a Quote on Your Wall:
I love quotes so much! They’re such a great way to bring meaning into your home, especially if you have kids (like me!). My favorite way to display quotes is by using letter stickers—they’re easy to apply, they come in lots of styles and colors, and they’re super affordable! Plus, they’re removable should you ever want to change things up again later on down the road.
My go-to source for letter stickers is Etsy; there are so many great shops out there that provide this service at reasonable prices and with high quality materials! I’ve bought several sets from different shops and have been very happy with all of them!
